A music event at a Goregaon exhibition ground in Mumbai turned tragic as two MBA students reportedly died from a suspected drug overdose. Five individuals, including two college students, have been arrested in connection with the case. The Vanrai police mentioned that the victims died from an overdose, pending confirmation from medical and forensic reports.
The deceased, a 24-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man, were students at a prestigious MBA college in Mumbai. Another 25-year-old woman from the event is in critical condition and receiving treatment in the ICU of a hospital. The incident occurred on April 11 during a concert attended by a large number of students, where some attendees are suspected to have consumed drugs like MDMA.
Emergency medical assistance was sought around midnight as several attendees faced severe breathing issues. While the women were taken to a trauma care center, the male victim was admitted to a hospital where he later passed away. Police are gathering statements from students present at the event to track the source and distribution of the drugs.
Arrests have been made, including Vihaan alias Akash Samal, event organizer, Sunny Vinod Jain from NESCO Event Organisation and Management, and Balakrishnan Balaram, a member of the internal security team. All accused individuals have been remanded to three days of police custody. Some attendees also suffered from excessive alcohol and drug consumption during the concert.
