The Mumbai police have made a significant breakthrough in uncovering the mystery behind purse and chain snatching incidents during morning walks in the Taloja area. They have also discovered similar criminal operations in other parts of the city. A juvenile suspect has been apprehended, and stolen cash totaling over Rs 1.85 lakh has been recovered from the individual.
The crackdown on the purse snatching gang was initiated following an incident in an upscale society in the Taloja region, causing a stir across the city. The case stemmed from an episode involving Shashikala Sanilkanth Mishra, a 49-year-old resident of Arihant Amodini Society in Sector 24, Taloja. Mishra was a victim of a purse snatching by three unidentified individuals on a motorcycle while she was out for a morning walk on April 17. Subsequently, a case was filed at the Taloja Police Station.
In a bid to apprehend the gang members, the Taloja Police undertook a meticulous operation. Despite having limited leads initially, the police managed to thwart the criminal activities through strategic planning. By reviewing around 120 CCTV footage clips from various areas including Taloja, Kharghar, Kamothe, and others, the police successfully tracked down the culprits. The authorities utilized technical analysis and intelligence from confidential sources to locate and detain the juvenile involved in the criminal activities.
