Mumbai’s Kartik Karkera claimed victory at the 11th New Delhi Marathon, finishing the 42.2-kilometer race in an impressive time of two hours and thirteen minutes. The 28-year-old doctor surpassed the Asian Games qualifying mark, beating out competitors Gopi Thonakal and Man Singh. The intense race among the top three runners ended with all finishing well below the required time for the Asian Games.

The elite women participants fell short of the mark set for the Asian Games, with Thakor Nirmaben leading the pack with a time of 02:41:15. In the half-marathons, Kuldip Kumar and Genet Shikur Reshid emerged victorious. The New Delhi Marathon, a certified national event, attracted over 30,000 runners from various countries and cities, making it a huge success.

Olympic medallist Vijender Singh and tennis star Rohan Bopanna flagged off the races and awarded the winners with trophies and prize money. The event showcased impressive performances from athletes across different categories, highlighting the spirit of sportsmanship and competition.
