Veteran actress Mumtaz disclosed on “Indian Idol 13” that the late superstar Rajesh Khanna had a habit of arriving late on set. While Mumtaz was punctual at 9 am, Rajesh Khanna would show up at noon. Despite Mumtaz finishing her work by 6 pm, Rajesh Khanna often had to stay back to complete his scenes.
Mumtaz reminisced that Rajesh Khanna was consistently the last to arrive, coming in at noon while she started her day at 9 am. Their on-screen chemistry led them to star in nine films together, including popular titles like ‘Bandhan’, ‘Do Raste’, and ‘Aap ki Kasam’.
Having debuted in 1958 with “Lajwanti”, Mumtaz gained fame with the 1969 film ‘Do Raaste’ and continued to shine in movies like ‘Khilona’, ‘Hare Rama Hare Krishna’, and ‘Nagin’. After a 13-year break, her final film before retirement was ‘Aandhiyan’ in 1990.
Mumtaz, who married businessman Mayur Madhvani in 1974, has two daughters. Her daughter Natasha is married to actor Fardeen Khan, son of the late actor Feroz Khan.
