The Muslim community finds itself split following the Madhya Pradesh High Court’s ruling recognizing the Bhojshala complex as a Hindu temple under King Bhoj’s ownership. The court has granted exclusive worship rights to the Hindu side, rejecting pleas from the Muslim and Jain communities.
President of the Indian Sufi Foundation, Kashish Warsi, urged Muslims nationwide to peacefully acknowledge the decision. Warsi emphasized that a “true Muslim” would not pray at a disputed location and encouraged compliance with the court’s judgment to avoid contempt charges.
In contrast, Maulana Khalid Rasheed Farangi Mahli expressed disappointment among Muslims regarding the High Court’s decision on Bhojshala. He highlighted the option to appeal to the Supreme Court, remaining hopeful for justice to prevail through the higher judicial authority.
Congress MLA Arif Masood affirmed that the Muslim faction intends to challenge the verdict in the Supreme Court, citing the longstanding dispute over the Kamal Maula Mosque. Stressing the need for legal recourse, Masood emphasized refraining from vigilantism and awaiting the Supreme Court’s final ruling.
The High Court’s ruling, while favoring Hindu worship at the site, also acknowledged the Muslim community’s concerns. It recommended the government to consider providing alternative land for a mosque if desired, aiming to address the religious sensitivities surrounding the issue.
