Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi, National President of the All India Muslim Jamaat, emphasized the need for a Muslim Chief Ministerial candidate in Uttar Pradesh for the upcoming 2027 elections. Pointing out that Muslims constitute 22% of the state’s population, he highlighted their significant role in supporting the Yadav family’s political endeavors over the years.
In a letter addressed to Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, Razvi stressed the importance of Muslim representation in leadership positions. He urged Yadav to publicly declare that he will not be the next Chief Minister and instead nominate a Muslim leader from within the party for the role. Razvi emphasized that this move would garner substantial support from the Muslim community in the upcoming elections.
Sufi Kashish Warsi, National President of the Indian Sufi Foundation, echoed Razvi’s sentiments, emphasizing the need for meaningful representation of Muslims in politics. Warsi called on political parties, including the Samajwadi Party, to prioritize the inclusion of Muslims in key decision-making roles. He urged the SP leadership to nominate a Muslim individual as the Chief Ministerial candidate to better reflect the community’s significant voting influence.
