Majlis Wahdat-i-Mulimeen’s (MWM) provincial leader, Allama Ali Hasnain Husaini, has criticized the Pakistani government for its handling of peaceful sit-ins organized by top opposition leaders. Husaini emphasized that if any harm comes to the protesters, the authorities will be held accountable, as reported by local media.
Husaini condemned the government’s denial of food, water, and essential medicines to Senate Opposition leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri and National Assembly Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai. He described this action as undemocratic and inhumane, according to Pakistan’s leading daily Dawn.
During a press conference, Husaini highlighted that senior political leaders have been deprived of basic necessities for the past three days. He specifically mentioned the health risks faced by Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri, who is struggling with diabetes.
Allama Ali Hasnain Husaini expressed concern that Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri, engaged in a peaceful struggle, is being deprived of uninterrupted access to his medications, which he considers a fundamental human right. He cautioned that if any harm befalls the leaders due to government restrictions, the authorities will be fully responsible, as per Dawn’s report.
Husaini characterized the government’s actions in Islamabad as incompetent and announced that protests against these measures, including in Balochistan, will persist. He warned that oppressive rulers throughout history have faced consequences for their inhumane actions, emphasizing that the current situation will not go unnoticed.
Opposition lawmakers, led by Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Allama Nasir Abbas, continued their sit-in outside the Parliament House and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa house for the third consecutive day. The protesters are demanding medical treatment for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s eye condition.
