Former beauty queen and actress Nafisa Ali celebrated the 50th anniversary of winning Miss India 1976. She fondly recalled her journey to becoming the second runner-up at Miss International 1976 held in Tokyo. Nafisa, a cancer survivor, shared sepia-toned images from her pageant days.
Nafisa, who battled peritoneal and ovarian cancer in 2018, reflected on her achievements. She started her acting career in 1979 with the film “Junoon” alongside Shashi Kapoor. Throughout her career, she appeared in various films including “Major Saab,” “Life In A… Metro,” and “Yamla Pagla Deewana.”
In 2004, Nafisa contested in the Lok Sabha elections from South Kolkata but did not win. Her most recent film appearance was in the 2022 movie “Uunchai” directed by Sooraj Barjatya. The film featured stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, and Parineeti Chopra.
Recently, Nafisa shared moments from her trek at 11,000 feet, emphasizing how the experience rejuvenated her post-surgery and chemotherapy. She posted videos and photos of her trek near Rohtang Pass, expressing gratitude for the support of her family during the challenging journey.
