Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio highlighted the focus of the 73rd Plenary Session of the North Eastern Council (NEC) on identifying economic strengths and growth drivers in each Northeastern state. The session, chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, aimed to accelerate regional development through a task force mechanism.
CM Rio mentioned that discussions revolved around formulating state-specific development strategies and harnessing the unique economic potential of all eight Northeastern states. High-powered task forces visited each state to explore opportunities for driving their economies.
The findings and recommendations of the task forces were shared during the meeting, fostering discussions among the participating states and NEC members. The emphasis was on introducing innovative concepts for economic growth and development in the region, focusing on state-specific interventions and promoting regional cooperation.
The plenary session, attended by governors, chief ministers, senior NEC officials, and representatives of the Central government, addressed key areas such as infrastructure development, connectivity, investment promotion, and implementation of sector-specific recommendations.
