Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav emphasized the need for stronger regional cooperation, improved connectivity, and increased investments in infrastructure, youth empowerment, and sustainable development to boost Northeast growth. Addressing the North Eastern Council’s plenary session in Shillong, he highlighted Nagaland’s commitment to fostering a prosperous and inclusive Northeast, crucial for realizing the vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047 and Viksit Nagaland. Yadav stressed the significance of agriculture as the mainstay of Nagaland’s economy, with a focus on enhancing value chains, certification mechanisms, and market access for organic products like pineapple, Naga King Chilli, and coffee.
Highlighting the importance of modernizing traditional farming practices, Governor Yadav underlined the necessity of improved transport networks for economic progress and regional integration. He called for expediting the development of Ciethu airport and additional airstrips in Mokokchung, Tuensang, and Mon. Additionally, he emphasized the pivotal role of projects like the Foothill Road and railway connectivity in unlocking the state’s industrial, mineral, and agricultural potential.
Governor Yadav expressed concerns about the lack of premier educational institutions in Nagaland, leading many students to seek higher education outside the state. He advocated for the establishment of national and regional educational institutions within Nagaland, emphasizing entrepreneurship, innovation, and skill development as vital for empowering the state’s youth. The Governor also highlighted the establishment of Nagaland’s first Drone School and Centre of Excellence, a significant step towards creating new livelihood opportunities and preparing youth for emerging technologies.
