Nagaland is getting ready for the Census 2027, with the House Listing Operation (HLO) set to take place from July 1 to 30, 2026. The State Level Census Coordination Committee, led by Home Commissioner Abhijit Sinha, assessed the state’s readiness for the upcoming census at a meeting in Kohima.
At the meeting, Keneilhoutuolie Miachieo, the Director of Census Operations and Citizen Registration for Nagaland, presented a comprehensive report on the status of preparations for the House Listing Operation. Around 6,461 census workers have been appointed across the state, with training ongoing for various roles such as master trainers, field trainers, and Enumerators.
The committee was briefed on the planned awareness and publicity campaigns for Self-Enumeration and HLO, which include radio interviews, advertisements, and messages from key dignitaries like the Governor and Chief Minister. Media outreach efforts through the Department of Information and Public Relations and social media campaigns are also part of the strategy to encourage public participation.
Arrangements for the distribution of census materials, logistics, manpower deployment, and financial aspects were reviewed to ensure the smooth execution of census operations. The meeting emphasized compliance with decisions made in earlier meetings, focusing on timelines, fund disbursement, awareness programs, and training initiatives.
