The National Commission for Women has intervened in the case of a woman allegedly gang-raped by her husband and his associates in Hyderabad. The Commission’s Chairperson has instructed the Telangana Director General of Police to ensure the filing of a First Information Report, immediate arrest of all suspects, a swift investigation, and the safety of the survivor.
The Commission has demanded a comprehensive Action Taken Report within a week. The incident, where a newlywed woman was reportedly assaulted by individuals close to her, is seen as a serious violation of dignity, bodily autonomy, and marital sanctity by the NCW. The Commission strongly denounced the act and expressed grave concerns over such brutality.
A 22-year-old woman recently reported to the police that she was sexually assaulted by her husband and his associates on their wedding night. The Begumpet police have initiated an investigation after registering a case based on her complaint. The accused individuals are currently on the run.
The victim, who resides with her widowed mother and younger sister in Kukatpally, narrated that a man from Andhra Pradesh’s Nellore district took over their rented house and later married her. She alleged that on their wedding night, her husband and his friends, after consuming alcohol, assaulted her while she was unconscious.
