Leaders of the National Conference voiced worry after a firing incident with former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah during a private function in Jammu. The attempt to attack Farooq Abdullah occurred on Wednesday evening while Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary was also present. The suspect is now in police custody.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah praised the swift action of the security team assigned to his father’s Z+ security cover, preventing harm. Omar Abdullah expressed gratitude for his father’s safety, highlighting the security breach and questioning how the suspect managed to get so close to a highly protected leader. Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary confirmed that no harm was caused during the incident.

Health and Medical Education Minister Sakina Itoo strongly condemned the attack on Farooq Abdullah, emphasizing the need for a detailed investigation into the security lapse. National Conference MLA Tanvir Sadiq confirmed the safety of the leaders involved in the incident. The firing incident occurred as Farooq Abdullah and other leaders were leaving the venue after the private function.
