Omar Abdullah expressed gratitude for his father’s safety, highlighting the security breach and questioning how the suspect managed to get so close to a highly protected leader. Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary confirmed that no harm was caused during the incident.
Health and Medical Education Minister Sakina Itoo strongly condemned the attack on Farooq Abdullah, emphasizing the need for a detailed investigation into the security lapse. National Conference MLA Tanvir Sadiq confirmed the safety of the leaders involved in the incident. The firing incident occurred as Farooq Abdullah and other leaders were leaving the venue after the private function.
The accused, Kamal Singh Jamwal, was swiftly apprehended by security personnel and taken into custody. Senior police officials are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and the motive behind the attack.
