The 72nd edition of the National Film Awards winners were revealed at the National Media Centre, with Kartik Aaryan and Mammootty sharing the Best Actor award. Mammootty was recognized for ‘Bramayugam’, while Kartik received the honor for his role in ‘Chandu Champion’. Yami Gautam was named Best Actress for her performance in ‘Article 370’.
The film ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ was awarded Best Feature Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. ‘Srikanth – Aa Raha Hai Sabki Aankhein Kholne’, featuring Rajkummar Rao, won Best Hindi Film. Director Sukumar was lauded for Best Screenplay in ‘Pushpa 2’.
Shashwat Sachdev, known for ‘Dhurandhar’ and ‘Dhurandhar The Revenge’, won Best Music Direction for ‘Article 370’. ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ secured Best Production Design, while ‘Stree 2’ was honored with Best Choreography.
The National Film Awards, recognizing excellence in Indian cinema for 2024, were announced by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. The awards were judged by an 11-member Central Jury led by Malayalam filmmaker Jayaraj. The event, overseen by the National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC), aims to honor Indian cinema’s artistic and technical accomplishments impartially.
The National Awards ceremony date is pending, expected to take place at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. Traditionally, the President of India presents the National Film Awards at this venue, as in recent editions.
