The sports community in West Bengal is in turmoil following the disappearance of 15-year-old national level shooter Damayanti Sen from Howrah Station near Kolkata. Damayanti, who had recently been chosen for national team trials, went missing on Thursday afternoon after leaving home to buy household items.
Despite extensive searches by her family and the police, Damayanti Sen remained untraceable till Friday morning. Her parents reported her missing when she failed to return home after leaving with her mobile phone. Authorities are investigating her movements, last seen on CCTV footage at Howrah Station moving between platforms four and five.
Damayanti Sen, a resident of Central Howrah, had no reported conflicts with her family prior to her disappearance. Her sudden vanishing has left her family, friends, and shooting associates deeply concerned. This incident adds to past controversies in the West Bengal shooting community, including the suspension of Olympian Joydeep Karmakar by the West Bengal Rifle Association last year.
