The National Narcotics Helpline MANAS has received almost 1 million connection attempts since its launch, aiming to provide confidential drug reporting and support. As of June 2026, the helpline recorded nearly 2,65,673 drug-related inputs and has generated over 16,200 actionable drug-trafficking intelligence inputs. Additionally, it has connected over 47,500 calls to professional counseling services.
To enhance citizen participation and access to support services, the government identified the necessity for an accessible and confidential platform for reporting drug-related activities and seeking assistance. Launched on July 18, 2024, under the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, MANAS serves as a secure, technology-driven platform enabling citizens to report drug-related activities, seek counseling, and access rehabilitation support at any time.
With a focus on citizen empowerment, MANAS has assisted over 32,900 individuals with substance abuse concerns and addressed more than 12,800 rehabilitation requests since its inception. The platform, accessible through various channels including the national helpline number 1933, official portal, email, and the UMANG app, encourages citizens to actively engage in combating drug abuse.
Citizens utilizing MANAS can confidentially report drug trafficking, peddling, illegal cultivation, and related activities without disclosing their identity. Those affected by addiction can access counseling and support, with calls redirected to the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment helpline 14446. The platform’s digital ticket generation and workflow management facilitate quicker information sharing with relevant agencies, enhancing coordination and response time.
In a bid to expand accessibility, MANAS is developing inclusive features such as multilingual call support, Smart IVRS, chatbot integration, and regional language assistance. These efforts aim to further engage citizens in the fight against drug abuse, promoting a proactive stance against such activities.
