The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has merged Pharma Jan Samadhan and Pharma Sahi Daam into a single digital platform, as per an official statement. This integration aims to provide citizens with consolidated access to medicine price information and grievance redressal services. Users can now conveniently utilize both services through the unified Pharma Sahi Daam interface on the app and portal.
The new integrated portal, effective immediately, enhances transparency, accountability, and public participation in accessing affordable medicines. Pharma Sahi Daam platform was initially designed to offer consumers immediate access to the prices of scheduled and non-scheduled medicines. It ensures that medicines are sold within the government-approved price limits.
Pharma Jan Samadhan, on the other hand, focuses on facilitating the reporting and resolution of complaints related to medicine pricing. While these initiatives were previously integrated at the mobile application level, they operated through separate web portals. Now, with the unified Pharma Sahi Daam web portal and mobile app, users can seamlessly access both services.
The NPPA, established in 1997 under the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, serves as an independent regulator for drug pricing. It is responsible for setting and revising drug prices in accordance with the Drugs Prices Control Order (DPCO), 2013. The NPPA also monitors drug availability, compliance, and provides advice on pharmaceutical policies.
