In a move towards modernization and transparency in sports administration, the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) officially amended its constitution. The changes, approved unanimously during a Special General Body Meeting in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, align the federation’s governance with the National Sports Governance Act (NSGA), 2025. This makes NRAI one of the first Indian sports federations to adopt these legislative reforms, setting a governance benchmark.

Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, NRAI’s president, stated that embracing the NSGA 2025 standards is a progressive step towards a more robust and athlete-centric ecosystem. The General Body’s unanimous support reflects a collective effort to modernize administration and ensure compliance with national laws while maintaining international standing. The amended constitution establishes internal mechanisms like athlete welfare committees and a code of ethics.

Pawankumar Singh, NRAI’s secretary general, emphasized the focus on safeguarding shooters’ interests and providing a transparent framework for their development. These structural changes aim to offer uninterrupted support to athletes, strengthening pathways from grassroots to international levels. The meeting’s successful conclusion in Odisha underlines NRAI’s commitment to administrative excellence as India gears up for global sporting events.
