Online applications and nominations for the National Teachers Awards 2026 will be accepted until July 10, as announced by an official from the Union Ministry of Education’s Department of School Education and Literacy. These awards are presented annually on September 5, which marks Teachers’ Day in honor of Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a renowned philosopher and scholar.
Eligible teachers working in various educational institutions, including schools under Central and state governments, Union Territories, local bodies, and affiliated aided and private schools, can apply based on the specified guidelines. Applications and nominations can be submitted through the National Awards Portal from June 15 to July 10, with detailed information available on the portal regarding eligibility criteria and evaluation processes.
The National Teachers Awards aim to acknowledge teachers’ exceptional contributions to enhancing the quality of school education and fostering the overall development of students. A national jury will be formed by mid-July to evaluate the nominations, with the selection process to be completed by August 8. Last year, 45 outstanding educators were honored at a special event in New Delhi, where President Droupadi Murmu commended their efforts in shaping the future citizens through education.
