The Nationalist Citizens Party of India (NCPI) criticized Opposition parties for walking out of the all-party meeting convened by the Centre, deeming it unprecedented and inappropriate. However, the Opposition MPs returned shortly thereafter and engaged in the meeting.
NCPI MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay expressed that their party, with 20 MPs, including three Muslim MPs, would become the second-largest party in the NDA. Bandyopadhyay, a Member of Parliament since the 12th Lok Sabha, highlighted the unusual nature of the Opposition members’ walkout, noting his surprise at their eventual return.
Emphasizing their commitment to secularism and national unity, Bandyopadhyay stated, “We are firm believers in the principles of secularism, communal harmony, and unity of the country.” Similarly, NCPI MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar criticized the Opposition’s walkout as unprecedented and unacceptable in the context of an all-party meeting.
The NCPI issued a notice announcing the inclusion of 20 MPs from West Bengal into the party. The notice listed the names of the MPs, affirming their dedication to public service and nation-building efforts.
