Nationwide student protests concerning alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG exam have sparked strong political responses. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leaders view the movement as a triumph for student-led protests, emphasizing the need for increased accountability from the Union government. Leader of the Opposition in Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav, hailed the protests as a victory for truth, rights, struggle, and justice.
RJD National President Lalu Prasad Yadav’s daughter, Rohini Acharya, sees the protests as a win driven by public pressure, albeit delayed. She criticized the government for attempting to hide its failures, asserting that public outrage compelled action rather than moral obligation. RJD Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Jha labeled the protests as the Modi government’s first political setback, highlighting the importance of a transparent and credible education system.
The protests, according to RJD state spokesperson Ejaz Ahmed, forced the government to acknowledge the nationwide public movement’s strength, emphasizing the need for thorough investigations into alleged NEET exam irregularities. Similarly, RJD spokesperson Chittaranjan Gagan hailed the protests as a demonstration of student and youth power, underscoring the victory for Indian democracy. Opposition parties stress that further reforms are essential to rebuild trust in India’s education and examination system.
