Navi Mumbai Police have resolved a nearly year-old blind murder case in Airoli’s Yadav Nagar by apprehending a woman and her suspected lover for the killing of her husband. The suspects, identified as Sunita Kushwah (40) and Rahul Dashrath Prajapati (30), allegedly conspired to murder Sunita’s husband, Baliram Suryanath Kushwah (50), after he objected to their relationship. The police revealed that the accused murdered Baliram at home, dismembered his body, and attempted to cover up the crime by disposing of the remains in a forest area.
Senior Police Inspector Devidas Kathole from Rabale MIDC Police Station mentioned that the case initially lacked direct evidence, leading to it being classified as a blind murder. However, through the utilization of technical evidence, call detail records (CDR), and interrogation of the suspects, the police were able to uncover the alleged conspiracy behind the murder. Baliram resided in Yadav Nagar with his wife and children, where Sunita reportedly engaged in a relationship with Rahul. When Baliram discovered the affair and opposed it, the accused purportedly decided to eliminate him as an obstacle.
The incident occurred on August 9, 2025, during which the children were sent away before Baliram was allegedly killed at home. Following the murder, attempts were made to conceal evidence and mislead the family. Subsequently, Sunita vacated the Yadav Nagar residence, relocating with her children to Rahul’s home in Ghansoli, where she informed relatives for months that Baliram had left. The case came to light after a missing persons report was filed in April 2026 at Rabale MIDC Police Station. Despite the suspects changing their mobile phones and SIM cards, investigative efforts, including technical evidence and call records analysis, exposed their involvement.
Both accused have provided details of the crime during questioning, leading to searches in the Gawli Dev hill area for additional evidence. The court has remanded them to seven days of police custody, with ongoing investigations into the case.
