The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) is conducting a three-day training program on investigating cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, starting on Monday, June 29, at the Central Academy for Police Training in Bhopal.
Twenty-six NCB officers are attending the event to undergo intensive training in probing such cases, including financial investigations. The program aims to enhance officers’ investigative skills to combat drug trafficking and disrupt narco-financing networks effectively.
The NDPS Act, which became effective on November 14, 1985, established provisions for setting up a Central Authority to exercise the powers and functions of the Central government. It was under these provisions that the NCB was formed on March 17, 1986.
The capacity-building initiative is a structured endeavor to bolster the skills, resources, and systems of individuals and organizations to improve their efficiency, sustainability, and adaptability to change.
Aligned with the National Roadmap on Narcotics Control, NCB’s capacity-building initiative seeks to strengthen its dedication to achieving a Drug-Free India.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently unveiled the Roadmap for Narcotics Control during the 10th apex-level meeting of the Narco-Coordination Centre (NCORD) in New Delhi. The comprehensive vision document aims to enhance the country’s fight against narcotics by dismantling major drug cartels, tracking financial flows, regulating pharmaceutical drug diversion, and expanding de-addiction services.
