In a significant move against organized drug networks, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has detained Rahul Balkrishna Shedge, a habitual drug offender, under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act, 1988. Shedge, known for his involvement in drug trafficking and illegal narcotic substance manufacturing, has a history of arrests by law enforcement agencies, including the NCB and the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI).
Rahul Balkrishna Shedge, possessing expertise in chemistry, entered the drug trade in 2009 and has faced multiple arrests since then. Despite previous detentions, he continued his illicit activities, leading to his recent detention by the NCB under the PIT-NDPS Act. The NCB’s action aims to prevent Shedge from further engaging in drug-related offenses and disrupting organized drug syndicates.
The NCB’s decision to detain Shedge underscores its ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and target habitual offenders within the narcotics network. With a vision of a ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat by 2047’, the NCB encourages citizens to report any drug-related activities through MANAS, the National Narcotics Helpline, at the toll-free number 1933, ensuring the confidentiality of informants.
