NCP (SP) leader Jayant Patil dismissed speculations of the NCP aligning with the BJP or merging with the NCP faction led by Sunetra Pawar. Patil clarified that no discussions or invitations from the NDA had occurred, emphasizing their opposition role.
Speaking in Pandharpur, Patil humorously addressed the rumors, highlighting that recent media reports had exaggerated the situation. He explained that his recent meetings, including with the Chief Minister, were focused on specific local issues rather than political realignments.
Patil firmly stated that there were no ongoing talks between the NCP factions and reaffirmed their commitment to the Opposition. He assured party members of their loyalty to Sharad Pawar, emphasizing unity within the party amid political uncertainties.
MP Supriya Sule also confirmed the closure of merger talks between the NCP factions, citing her late brother Ajit Pawar’s wish for party unity. Sule expressed disappointment at the lack of reciprocal sentiment from the other side, signaling an end to the issue within their party.
