The Nationalist Congress Party’s national president and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister, Sunetra Pawar, issued a stern warning to party members, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy towards indiscipline in the public and media eye. At a rally marking NCP’s 27th Foundation Day, Pawar outlined a new era of accountability within the party, introducing stringent measures to evaluate ministers’ performance.
Pawar revealed plans to engage third-party agencies for assessing ministers, MLAs, and MLCs, with each minister overseeing four districts. Additionally, ministers are required to allocate three days weekly to party organization and conduct public grievance meets at the taluka level to foster grassroots development. The restructuring also designates roles for MLCs as district chiefs, Rajya Sabha MPs managing two districts, and MLAs overseeing neighboring constituencies where the party secured second place in prior elections.
Emphasizing a shift towards prioritizing the party’s growth over personal ambitions, Pawar highlighted that future government opportunities and appointments would be merit-based. She stressed the importance of organizational discipline, strategic expansion, and grassroots accountability in the wake of the late national president Ajit Pawar’s passing. Pawar set a clear roadmap for party members, preparing for upcoming local elections and constituency realignments.
