Senior leaders from the NDA Karnataka delegation visited Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar in New Delhi to address alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Karnataka. They requested the Election Commission of India to halt the ongoing process, re-verify all collected forms, and ensure door-to-door verification as per regulations. The delegation emphasized the need for fair oversight by Central Observers from other states to ensure transparency.
The delegation, including prominent figures like Union Ministers and Opposition Leaders, presented evidence of bulk filling of enumeration forms at various locations instead of proper door-to-door verification. Kumaraswamy highlighted concerns such as improper verification visits, acceptance of relatives without eligibility checks, and rapid completion of 72% of the exercise in just six days. He stressed the importance of upholding the integrity of electoral rolls and democratic processes.
The memorandum submitted to Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar expressed serious apprehensions about irregularities in the electoral roll revision process in Karnataka. It pointed out deviations from the prescribed guidelines, including lack of mandatory door-to-door verification and improper filling of forms at community halls and mosques. The submission raised concerns about the neutrality of the electoral process and emphasized the need for transparency and adherence to Election Commission guidelines.
