National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders have expressed approval of the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) decision to issue a show-cause notice to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge for his “terrorist” comment. The ECI took this action citing a violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) during Kharge’s press conference where the remark was directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi. BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal criticized Kharge, suggesting that he needs psychiatric help and accusing him of being mentally unstable.
Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC also condemned Kharge, labeling him as “intellectually bankrupt” and referring to the Congress as the “Urban Naxal Party.” She emphasized the inappropriateness of calling the Prime Minister a ‘terrorist’ and highlighted the need for maintaining respect in democratic processes. Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak criticized the Congress, stating that their ideology is against society and accusing them of habitually targeting Constitutional establishments like the Election Commission.
Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya echoed similar sentiments, denouncing the Congress for their “inappropriate” remarks and attributing it to their bankruptcy and mindset. JD-U national spokesperson Rajeev Ranjan supported the ECI’s decision, urging Kharge to respond to the notice and calling for introspection within the Congress regarding their political culture. LJP-Ram Vilas MP Shambhavi Choudhary criticized Kharge’s remarks, describing them as a reflection of a low level in politics.
