National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders expressed support for Nishant Kumar, son of former Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, potentially joining the Bihar Cabinet ahead of its expansion on May 7. Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi stated that as an NDA member, he would welcome Nishant Kumar’s appointment as a Minister in the state Cabinet. Responding to concerns about dynasty politics, he pointed out instances of family members of Lalu Yadav holding political positions.
Union Minister Giriraj Singh emphasized the importance of having a competent team for development and mentioned that Nishant Kumar’s inclusion in the Cabinet, if decided by Nitish Kumar and JD-U, would be beneficial. JD-U leader Sanjay Gandhi expressed widespread support for Nishant’s inclusion but noted Nishant’s current focus on party organization work.
Regarding the Cabinet expansion, JD-U national spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan highlighted the NDA’s electoral mandate in Bihar and the upcoming government’s commitment to continuing Nitish Kumar’s governance legacy. LJP (Ram Vilas) MP Arun Bharti emphasized that the Cabinet expansion decision rests with the Chief Minister and party President Chirag Paswan, urging patience for official announcements.
Congress MP Tariq Anwar extended congratulations to Nishant Kumar on his potential Cabinet induction, acknowledging it as a decision of JD-U and expressing best wishes. The ongoing expansion aims to ensure caste balance, regional representation, and a mix of experienced leaders and new faces from alliance partners like JD(U), BJP, LJP (Ram Vilas), HAM(S), and Rashtriya Lok Morcha.
