NDMC Vice Chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal spearheaded a tree planting initiative at Bapu Dham NDMC Housing Complex in Chanakyapuri to promote environmental conservation. The campaign, named ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,’ inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, encourages individuals to plant trees in honor of their mothers. Chahal emphasized that this initiative goes beyond planting trees, emphasizing emotional and social responsibility, ensuring a sustainable future.

The New Delhi Municipal Council has devised a year-long “Green Calendar” for tree planting activities across various locations every Sunday. Collaboration among the Garden, Health, Civil, and Sanitation departments will ensure the proper nurturing and growth of the plants. The recent event not only involved tree planting but also facilitated direct interaction between Chahal and residents to address their concerns promptly.

Chahal engaged with residents and RWA members to grasp their issues firsthand during the event. Various department officials, including Civil and Electricity, were present to provide immediate solutions. Chahal instructed officials to address all civic issues within the specified timeframe, showcasing a commitment to both environmental conservation and public welfare.

Residents actively participated in the tree planting event, taking on the responsibility of nurturing the saplings. Local shopkeepers also joined in by adopting saplings and pledging to care for them, symbolizing a shared sense of responsibility and emotional attachment. Chahal highlighted the administration’s dual focus on environmental protection and addressing public grievances, assuring residents of NDMC’s dedication to environmental preservation and improved civic amenities.

Chahal emphasized that NDMC’s endeavors align with the vision of “Developed India @ 2047,” emphasizing the significance of a clean environment, enhanced facilities, and public engagement. Through initiatives like ##EkPedMaaKeNaam_OnSunday, NDMC continues its efforts to create a cleaner, greener, and more prosperous New Delhi by involving the community actively.
