The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has decided to waive road restoration charges for laying Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) pipelines to enhance Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections in the area. This move aims to expedite pipeline works for timely PNG connections to residents and establishments. The waiver, effective for three months, is part of efforts to accelerate infrastructure development and encourage the use of cleaner fuel.
In response to the prevailing circumstances, NDMC issued a circular facilitating the rapid expansion of PNG connections by IGL within its jurisdiction. The decision to waive Road Restoration charges for IGL pipeline laying for PNG connections for three months is intended to promote quicker execution of pipeline projects. This step is crucial to ensure that consumers receive PNG connections promptly without unnecessary delays.
The NDMC directive mandates that permissions for road cutting related to IGL pipeline laying should be granted within 24 hours of a complete request submission. This directive also includes instructions to commence work immediately, aiming to eliminate procedural delays and enhance coordination between departments. IGL has been urged to prioritize the work, deploy sufficient manpower and resources, and promptly backfill and secure excavated portions to prevent public inconvenience.
The Road Divisions of NDMC have been instructed to prioritize the restoration of affected road stretches within a fixed timeframe to minimize traffic disruptions and public inconvenience. All concerned officers and officials are required to strictly adhere to these directives immediately. The circular, issued with the approval of the Competent Authority, reflects NDMC’s dedication to citizen-centric governance, urban infrastructure enhancement, and the promotion of clean energy solutions in the national capital.
