The Lok Sabha is set to vote on three key bills related to amending the women’s reservation law and establishing a delimitation commission. The proposed Constitution (One Hundred and Thirty-First Amendment) Bill, 2026, aims to enable women’s reservation and facilitate delimitation, with Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal mentioning a 50% increase in Lok Sabha seats across all states to implement the women’s quota. If passed, several states like Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Kerala, and Gujarat will see a significant rise in the number of seats.
