In the case of a NEET aspirant’s death in Patna, the post-mortem report uncovered disturbing details. It indicated sexual assault, signs of resistance, and injuries on the girl’s private parts. Contrary to the initial claims by the Patna Police ruling out sexual assault and suggesting suicide, the report highlighted that the student fought her attackers for nearly one-and-a-half to two hours before her demise.
The medical findings disclosed that all injuries were inflicted before death, suggesting a prolonged and violent struggle rather than a sudden medical emergency. Doctors noted deep crescent-shaped nail marks around the neck and shoulders, indicating intense struggle. Additionally, multiple scratch marks across the chest and below the shoulders were found, suggesting continuous assault.
The report also mentioned bruises on the back, implying a prolonged struggle. Based on the injuries’ pattern and extent, the involvement of more than one person has not been ruled out by the medical board. Notably, the genital examination revealed fresh injuries, deep abrasions, tissue trauma, and excessive bleeding, indicating forced penetration and not consensual activity.
The family has raised concerns over the handling of the case, alleging attempts to settle the matter with money. They questioned the release of three suspects and the investigation’s thoroughness. The deceased student’s uncle accused the police and administration of trying to suppress the case, labeling it a gang rape and brutal murder.
Allegations have been made against the hostel owner, hospital management, and local police officials. The family, losing faith in the local administration, plans to seek justice through the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court. The post-mortem report has cast doubt on the initial suicide theory, prompting a Special Investigation Team (SIT) formation to probe the matter further.
