With the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21, the NTA Director General, Abhishek Singh, emphasized the use of paramilitary forces and the Air Force to ensure top-notch security measures. Singh stated that unprecedented security protocols are being implemented to prevent any irregularities following issues in the previous exam. Security measures include CCTV surveillance, GPS tracking, and close monitoring of all involved individuals to maintain the integrity of the examination process.
Singh highlighted the involvement of paramilitary forces, the Indian Air Force, and police to secure logistics due to the tight timeframe for conducting the exam. The NTA aims to complete the examination within 37 days, significantly shorter than the usual five-month duration, to avoid disruptions to academic cycles and sessions. Additionally, the NTA has taken action against over 200 Telegram channels, which have been found to engage in various illicit activities beyond exam-related malpractices.
Regarding the temporary ban on Telegram until June 22, Singh explained that multiple Telegram channels have been misused for activities like pornography, child sexual abuse, drug abuse, and scams. He pointed out that these channels often change names to evade detection and continue their illicit operations. Singh emphasized that the misuse of Telegram is more of a cybercrime issue rather than solely an examination-related concern.
Singh further elaborated on the misuse of Telegram, citing instances where content was altered without changing the timestamp to mislead users. To safeguard the examination’s integrity, the NTA has requested the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to block access to Telegram in India until June 22.
