The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) UG re-examination in West Bengal proceeded without issues on Sunday. Across the country, 22.79 lakh candidates participated, with 1.09 lakh candidates from West Bengal. The exam took place at 218 centers in the state, including Calcutta University and Jadavpur University.
Several students found the Physics section challenging, contrasting it with the previous exam’s ease. Anushka Agarwal from Malda district and two candidates from Tollygunge and Kidderpore shared similar sentiments. While some candidates felt Biology was manageable, many struggled with Physics.
Despite serious injuries from a recent road accident, student Shrishti Dubey took the exam in Kolkata with medical support. Following her father’s plea to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, special arrangements were made by the Ministry of Education. The National Testing Agency (NTA) ensured Shrishti’s comfort at the exam center.
On the same day, International Yoga Day celebrations led to road closures, prompting candidates to arrive early to avoid delays. The NTA allowed entry between 11 a.m. and 1.30 p.m., emphasizing the need for early arrival due to biometric verification. This re-examination followed the cancellation of the previous NEET UG exam due to alleged question paper leaks and subsequent nationwide protests.
