Nepal Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal has started a three-day visit to India, marking his first official visit since assuming office earlier this year. The Ministry of External Affairs stated that this visit aims to enhance the special partnership between India and Nepal through high-level exchanges.
During his visit, Khanal is scheduled to meet with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Saturday. The Ministry of External Affairs expressed eagerness to strengthen various aspects of the bilateral relationship, including development cooperation, people-to-people ties, and trade and investment.
Both sides are set to engage in discussions on enhancing cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, connectivity, energy, and people-to-people ties. The visit is part of the ongoing high-level engagements between Nepal and India, aiming to reinforce the longstanding ties between the two neighboring countries. Minister Khanal is expected to return to Kathmandu on June 7.
Plans for the visit include discussions on improving connectivity between the two nations, focusing on railway, road, air, and people-to-people connections. This visit holds significance as it is Minister Khanal’s first official visit to India since taking office, following his participation in the Ninth Indian Ocean Conference in Mauritius in April.
