A new Centre for Emerging Technologies is planned to be established at Tamil Nadu Knowledge City in Tiruvallur. The center will operate from a dedicated 20,000-square-foot research and teaching facility within the knowledge tower. The collaboration aims to boost research and innovation in fields like quantum computing and agri-tech, aiming to strengthen the connection between academia and industry.
Research activities at the center will encompass basic, applied, and translational projects, with a focus on industry involvement to drive innovation and commercial applications. The initiative also aims to enhance industry-aligned education through certification programs, joint research projects, and technical workshops. The partnership will emphasize workforce training and industry-led innovation to support the development of future-ready technologies.
University of Melbourne Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Global, Culture and Engagement) Prof. Michael Wesley expressed that the agreement signifies a significant step in expanding the university’s involvement in India’s innovation ecosystem. He looks forward to collaborating with TIDCO and its partners in India through the Centre for Emerging Technologies. The center is envisioned as a platform for researchers, students, and industry to collaborate on forward-looking technologies.
