New Delhi Municipal Council Vice Chairperson, Kuljeet Singh Chahal, commended the 13th Union Budget 2026 on Sunday, hailing it as progressive and inclusive. He expressed optimism that the budget would play a crucial role in elevating New Delhi to a world-class city. Chahal highlighted the budget’s focus on enhancing infrastructure, smart civic services, healthcare facilities, cleanliness drives, green initiatives, and job creation in the NDMC area.
The Vice Chairperson emphasized that the budget would bring a fresh impetus to various sectors like construction, tourism, healthcare, and cultural preservation. He anticipated that these initiatives would not only boost employment opportunities but also open new avenues for the youth. Chahal particularly noted the budget’s emphasis on strengthening healthcare services for the elderly and promoting medical tourism, foreseeing a positive impact on job creation in the medical field.
Furthermore, Chahal underscored the significance of expanding the hotel industry, developing pilgrimage sites, and conserving India’s cultural heritage. He believed that these measures would stimulate economic growth and create sustainable job prospects. Additionally, he praised the budget for its youth-centric approach, especially its focus on promoting sports and nurturing sporting talent, which he deemed crucial for the future.
Welcoming the upcoming implementation of the new Income Tax Act from April 1, Chahal appreciated the extension of deadlines for filing non-audit income tax returns, citing it as a significant relief for taxpayers. He also lauded the government’s decision not to introduce new taxes, providing relief to the middle class. Chahal highlighted that the budget aligns with the principles of accelerating economic growth, fulfilling aspirations, and fostering inclusivity, all while outlining a roadmap for a balanced and growth-oriented economy.
