Minority Affairs Secretary Chandra Shekhar Kumar introduced two new modules on the Unified Waqf Management, Empowerment, Efficiency, and Development (UMEED) Central Portal for improved transparency. These modules, the Survey Module and Waqf Property Lease Module, are aimed at enhancing efficiency and accountability in managing Waqf properties. The Survey Module offers a digital framework for capturing and updating information related to Waqf property surveys on the portal.
The Waqf Property Lease Management Module, on the other hand, facilitates end-to-end management of leasing-related information of Waqf properties through the portal. It enables systematic recording and monitoring of key lease details in a structured and transparent manner, strengthening accountability in the leasing process. Secretary Chandra Shekhar Kumar urged all State/UT Waqf Boards to ensure widespread implementation of these modules and raise awareness among eligible beneficiaries.
The UMEED Central Portal, inaugurated by Union Minister of Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju in 2025, serves as a centralized digital platform for real-time uploading, verification, and monitoring of Waqf properties. It aims to revolutionize the administration of Waqf assets in India by introducing greater transparency, accountability, and public participation. The portal features a digital inventory with geo-tagging of all Waqf properties, an online grievance redressal mechanism, transparent leasing and usage tracking, integration with GIS mapping and other e-Governance tools, and public access to verified records and reports.
The Ministry of Minority Affairs collaborates closely with States/UTs and State Waqf Boards to ensure efficient management of Waqf properties nationwide.
