The Centre is set to introduce a new policy on Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) to enhance the current bio-gas value chain, as per Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri. Puri mentioned that the upcoming CBG policy will focus on supporting biomass aggregation machinery financially and will involve initiatives to expand pipeline infrastructure for better bio-gas transportation and distribution nationwide.
Puri emphasized the government’s dedication to establishing a robust and sustainable energy ecosystem, noting that India’s existing CBG policy framework is solid and that the new measures will bolster the sector. He highlighted the significance of bio-gas and CBG in India’s shift towards cleaner and more cost-effective energy sources, particularly in rural and agricultural areas.
Speaking after a two-day high-level conference, Puri reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pledge to invest approximately $500 billion in the energy sector in the forthcoming years. He also underlined the role of India Energy Week in showcasing the country’s expanding influence in the global energy arena and attracting international partnerships.
