In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Aajeevika Mission (Rural) will launch on July 1, aiming to enhance rural livelihoods. This initiative, replacing MGNREGA, seeks to bolster the rural economy’s self-reliance and inclusivity. The Central government has allocated a record Rs 95,692 crore for the upcoming fiscal year, with an expected total outlay exceeding Rs 1.51 lakh crore.
The scheme will notably enhance employment opportunities and livelihood security for rural families in Rajasthan and nationwide. Rajasthan has received an interim allocation of over Rs 7,581 crore from the Centre, with an additional Rs 4,000 crore contribution from the state government. This substantial funding totaling over Rs 11,581 crore in Rajasthan marks the largest-ever allocation for a rural employment guarantee program in the state.
Under the new Act, eligible rural households will have a statutory right to 125 days of guaranteed employment annually, an increase from the current 100 days. Weekly wage payments will replace the previous 15-day payment provision, ensuring transparency and timely payments through Direct Benefit Transfer. The Act also includes provisions for unemployment allowance and compensation for wage disbursement delays, emphasizing the welfare of rural workers.
Existing MGNREGA job cards will remain valid until new Rural Employment Guarantee Cards are issued under the VB-G RAM G Act, 2025. The scheme aims to boost rural incomes, strengthen livelihood security, and drive inclusive development across Rajasthan’s villages.
