Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated the Puri–Koraput Express Special and the Brahmapur–Udhna (Surat) Amrit Bharat Express Inaugural Special, improving rail connectivity and passenger convenience. The Puri–Koraput Express will connect Puri and Koraput, benefiting various travelers and locals, while the Brahmapur–Udhna (Surat) Amrit Bharat Express will link Odisha with Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat, enhancing travel flexibility and connectivity with major centers.
The Puri–Koraput Express will operate as Train No. 18407/18408 on specific days, offering direct connectivity between Puri and Koraput. The detailed timetable for this service will be released separately. Additionally, the Brahmapur–Udhna (Surat) Amrit Bharat Express, now a daily service, will play a crucial role in supporting trade, employment, and economic activities by connecting Odisha with multiple states.
These new initiatives by Indian Railways aim to strengthen rail connectivity, improve passenger amenities, and support balanced regional development. The introduction of new train services, increased frequency, and comprehensive arrangements for Ratha Yatra will enhance tourism, commerce, education, healthcare access, and economic growth in Odisha.
