Newly appointed Tripura BJP President Abhishek Debroy has pledged to enhance the party’s organization with the support of senior leaders and party units in preparation for the 2028 Assembly elections. Debroy officially assumed his role at the state headquarters following his appointment by BJP President Nitin Nabin.
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, outgoing party President Rajib Bhattacharjee, central observer Rajdeep Roy, and other key leaders were present during Debroy’s induction. The State BJP unit conducted a reception to welcome Debroy, a 44-year-old first-time MLA from the Matarbari Assembly constituency.
Debroy, who emphasized strengthening the party from grassroots to state levels, aims to ensure the BJP is well-prepared for the upcoming elections in February-March 2028. He cautioned party members against making negative social media comments, stating that such actions could damage the party’s reputation.
Chief Minister Saha expressed confidence that Debroy’s appointment would attract more youth to the BJP and announced plans to restructure the state party organization for the upcoming elections. The long-awaited appointment of a new State BJP President in Tripura follows Debroy’s background in pharmacy and his political journey since 2001.
