A new development has surfaced in the Lohagad Fort murder case in Pune, involving Siya Goyal, the main suspect, who reportedly had a secret marriage with her boyfriend, Chetan Chaudhary, prior to her planned wedding with businessman Ketan Agarwal. Goyal and Chaudhary are said to have officially registered their marriage about four months ago, despite Goyal being engaged to Agarwal earlier this year. Agarwal tragically passed away after falling from a cliff at Lohagad Fort on June 18, leading investigators to suspect a premeditated conspiracy due to Goyal’s alleged reluctance towards the arranged marriage.
Police are now investigating claims that Goyal and Chaudhary legally registered their marriage under the Special Marriage Act, with a focus on verifying the existence of an official marriage certificate that could impact the ongoing inquiry. Additionally, two of Goyal’s college friends, who reportedly acted as witnesses during the marriage registration, are under scrutiny as part of the investigation. Efforts are also being made to recover deleted photos from a private Instagram account showing Goyal and Chaudhary in wedding attire, as these images could serve as crucial evidence.
Authorities suspect that the conspiracy unfolded further after Agarwal’s family requested Goyal’s documents for their planned destination wedding in Udaipur. Investigations are delving into Chaudhary’s financial transactions to ascertain if any payments were made to circumvent the mandatory public notice period mandated by the Special Marriage Act. Both Goyal and Chaudhary are currently in judicial custody, with police alleging that Chaudhary was involved in the purported murder conspiracy by following Goyal and Agarwal to Lohagad Fort on the day of the incident.
According to the ongoing investigation’s purported findings, police have uncovered online searches, deleted messages, and other evidence indicating meticulous planning leading up to Agarwal’s demise. Allegedly, Goyal and Chaudhary researched various methods to harm Agarwal online before deciding that pushing him from Lohagad Fort was the most feasible approach. Goyal reportedly confessed during questioning that she did not wish to marry Agarwal and conspired with Chaudhary to eliminate him to avoid bringing shame to her family.
