The new West Bengal Chief Secretary Dushyant Nariala and state Home Secretary Sanghamitra Ghosh visited the Raj Bhavan to meet Governor R.N. Ravi. This meeting, lasting around 30 minutes, marked the first interaction between Governor Ravi and state administrative officials since he assumed office. Governor Ravi inquired about the current state situation, particularly in light of the upcoming Assembly polls.
Reports confirm a meeting occurred following the reshuffle in the posts of Chief Secretary and Home Secretary on March 15. Dushyant Nariala and Sanghamitra Ghosh were appointed to these roles after the Model Code of Conduct came into effect. Governor Ravi engaged in discussions with the newly appointed officials, despite his office not being fully set up yet.
Governor R.N. Ravi has requested the appointment of a state Secretary to facilitate his work in a more organized manner. Even before his office is fully arranged, Governor Ravi has been active, making inquiries about the state’s situation amidst the ongoing Assembly elections. The Election Commission, empowered under the Model Code of Conduct, holds special powers to issue directives regarding the transfer of state government officials during this period.
