New Zealand’s Tom Latham will miss the fifth T20I against South Africa due to a thumb injury sustained during the third T20I. Latham, who suffered a minor fracture to his thumb, is expected to resume training in two to three weeks. In his absence, Tom Blundell will continue to cover for him in the squad.

James Neesham led the team in Latham’s absence during the last match, a first in his T20I career. Latham, despite the injury, managed to score an unbeaten 63 in the previous game. The series has seen other players like Ish Sodhi and Bevon Jacobs sidelined due to injuries as well.

Ish Sodhi suffered a broken thumb during training, while Bevon Jacobs sustained a left knee injury. The series has witnessed various replacements and cover players being brought in due to the injuries. The ongoing series currently stands at 3-1 in favor of the home team.
