Himachal Pradesh’s new Governor, Kavinder Gupta, aims to work closely with the state government to enhance the environment, focusing on increasing green cover, preserving cultural heritage, and boosting religious tourism. Having traveled extensively in Ladakh, covering over 10,000 km in seven months, Governor Gupta is well-acquainted with the challenges of mountainous regions. He recently took the oath of office in a simple yet impressive ceremony in the presence of dignitaries like Haryana Governor Ashim Kumar Ghosh and Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.
Governor Gupta expressed gratitude to President Droupadi Murmu for his appointment and emphasized his commitment to upholding the Constitution and collaborating closely with the state government. He highlighted the non-partisan nature of the Governor’s role, focusing on overall state and societal development. The Governor pledged to continue the work of his predecessors, seeking cooperation from the Chief Minister and the state government to prioritize ongoing initiatives.
With a focus on education, Governor Gupta aims to enhance the quality of education in Himachal Pradesh, drawing on his experience in Ladakh to address the similar geographical challenges faced by both regions. He stressed the importance of integrating Indian values with modern education, promoting tribal development, natural farming, and combating drug abuse. Governor Gupta also emphasized the effective implementation of central schemes to improve infrastructure and connectivity in remote areas, particularly in border regions near China.
