The War Memorial in Lunglei town, Mizoram, has been renovated and unveiled, displaying the names of 108 martyrs, including those from World War II and post-Independence operations. General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 3 Corps, Lt Gen Abhijit S. Pendharkar, emphasized the memorial’s significance in honoring soldiers’ courage and sacrifice for the nation.

Representatives, including Commander of 23 Sector Assam Rifles, Brig. Puspendar Sorayan, and local officials, paid respects to the fallen soldiers at the ceremony. The event featured floral tributes and a two-minute silence as a mark of respect for the brave soldiers who made invaluable contributions.

Brig. Sorayan highlighted the Assam Rifles’ commitment to Mizoram’s welfare and development, focusing on areas such as security, healthcare, education, and anti-drug initiatives. The memorial, established in 1977 and now centrally located in Lunglei, serves as a unifying symbol of honor and gratitude for the martyrs’ sacrifices.
