Brazilian football star Neymar has encountered a fresh injury setback just weeks before Brazil’s first FIFA World Cup match against Morocco. The 34-year-old player from Santos was absent from a recent game due to a calf injury, although his club reassured that it was not severe. Neymar is expected to be fit for Brazil’s upcoming pre-World Cup training session on May 27.
Team doctor Rodrigo Zogaib confirmed Neymar’s status, stating that the forward should be in good condition for the national team’s activities. There is optimism that Neymar might even participate in the upcoming match against Deportivo Cuenca. Neymar, Brazil’s top scorer with 79 goals in 128 international games, has been plagued by injuries since his return to Santos last year.
Despite his recent injury woes, Neymar’s inclusion in the Brazil squad was not solely based on form, as per manager Carlo Ancelotti. Ancelotti emphasized Neymar’s experience and camaraderie within the team as valuable assets. The FIFA World Cup is scheduled to take place in the United States, Mexico, and Canada from June 11 to July 19, with Brazil set to face Morocco in their opening match on June 13.
