The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has achieved a significant milestone by establishing four Guinness World Records during construction on the Bengaluru–Kadapa–Vijayawada Economic Corridor of National Highway-544G. This accomplishment includes records for laying bituminous concrete continuously over long distances and in large quantities. The NHAI, in collaboration with concessionaire M/s Rajpath Infracon Private Limited, utilized advanced construction equipment and machinery to set these records, ensuring adherence to high-quality and safety standards.
On January 6, near Andhra Pradesh’s Puttaparthi, the NHAI set two Guinness World Records. The first record was for the longest continuous laying of bituminous concrete, covering 28.89 lane km within 24 hours. The second record was for laying the highest quantity of 10,655 metric tons of bituminous concrete in the same time frame. These records were achieved for the first time globally under the six-lane National Highway project on the Bengaluru–Kadapa–Vijayawada Economic Corridor.
Continuing this success, two more Guinness World Records were established on January 11. These new records involved laying 57,500 metric tons of bituminous concrete continuously and paving a 156 lane km section, surpassing previous records. These achievements were made in Package-2 and Package-3 of the Bengaluru–Kadapa–Vijayawada Economic Corridor. The corridor, spanning 343 km with six lanes, is designed to offer a safe, high-speed, and scenic travel experience, featuring various amenities and a tunnel along its route.
Once completed, the Bengaluru–Kadapa–Vijayawada Economic Corridor will bring significant economic and logistical benefits, reducing travel distance by 100 km and cutting travel time by nearly four hours. This project will enhance regional connectivity by linking Bengaluru with Vijayawada, improving access between different regions of Andhra Pradesh and promoting industrial development in the area.
